At 15:00 on November 1, the ship \"Emerald\", carrying 4,300 tons of ethylene monomer – the first batch shipped from Gulei Petrochemical to Taiwan – successfully departed from the Gulei Petrochemical terminal in Zhangzhou. This marks the first time since the establishment of the Gulei Petrochemical Park that products have been sold to Taiwan, indicating that the park has successfully completed the entire process of selling ethylene to Taiwan, which is a significant milestone. It is reported that a total of 4,300 tons of ethylene monomer were sold this time to shareholders in Taiwan, with a value of over 30 million yuan. This marks the first time that Gulei Petrochemical has sold petrochemical products to Taiwan, which will help improve the company’s profitability and market competitiveness. Departments such as Gulei Customs, Border Control, Maritime Authorities, the Port Administration Office, and the Bureau of Commerce provided proactive support by ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance, thus offering significant assistance in enabling the first batch of ethylene monomer produced by Gulei Petrochemical to be sold successfully to Taiwan. The Gulei refining and chemical integration project is the largest petrochemical industry project resulting from cross-strait joint investment and cooperation. At the end of August 2021, the ethylene cracking unit at Gulei Petrochemical was successfully put into operation for trial runs. In just over two months, the first shipment of ethylene monomer was sold to Taiwan. A total of 4,300 tons of ethylene monomer were exported to Taiwan’s shareholders, with a value of over 30 million yuan. This marked Gulei Petrochemical’s first sale of petrochemical products to Taiwan, which helps to enhance the company’s profitability and market competitiveness. Given that domestic ethylene sales have been constrained by limited shipping capacity, and in order to ensure a steady supply of chemical raw materials for the Taiwanese shareholders, at the end of 2020, the Business Department of Gulei Petrochemicals took proactive measures by conducting thorough market research, and finalized the sales contracts with Taiwan in accordance with market principles. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the world and the Gulei Petrochemical Port has not yet been fully opened, in order to ensure the smooth shipment of ethylene monomer to Taiwan, various departments including Gulei Customs, border control authorities, maritime authorities, the port management office, the commerce bureau, and Gulei Petrochemical Port Company worked together to provide proactive support while ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance. They adopted a \"contactless\" inspection method, and offered guidance to enterprises regarding the control of hazardous materials, the classification and identification of such materials, and the sampling of products for testing. This ensured that all necessary customs procedures were completed by the time the approval for each shipment was given, thereby providing significant support for the successful shipment of Gulei Petrochemical’s first batch of ethylene monomer to Taiwan. The shipment of the first batch of ethylene monomer to Taiwan has successfully established the petrochemical product supply route between Gulai and Kaohsiung, marking a perfect start for Gulai Petrochemicals in fulfilling its commitment to supply ethylene monomer directly as agreed upon in the agreement between the land-based and Taiwanese shareholders. This development is of great significance for fostering cross-strait connectivity, promoting industrial exchanges and mutual complementarity, gradually establishing a comprehensive petrochemical industry cooperation framework across the strait that covers all stages of the industry, and advancing the integration of the petrochemical industries on both sides of the Taiwan Strait while exploring new paths for integrated development.
