All process parameters meet the required standards; the technical upgrades to Jilin Petrochemical’s aromatic extraction unit have yielded positive results

On June 15, news came from Jilin Petrochemical stating that its 450,000 tons per year aromatic extraction unit has successfully completed a specialized technical upgrade. It has now been operating stably for 45 days in a row, with all process parameters meeting the required standards and excellent operational conditions; it is expected to generate an annual economic benefit of over 7 million yuan. 　　To address the long-standing issues within the plant’s steam system, such as high energy consumption and low thermal efficiency, Jilin Petrochemical conducted a thorough investigation to identify areas of unnecessary energy consumption, took targeted actions to resolve these problems, and carried out systematic optimization and upgrades to the steam management system. After the technical upgrades were implemented, the hourly consumption of high-pressure steam by the unit decreased by about 3 tons, effectively resolving the long-standing problems of high losses along the steam pipelines and excessive energy consumption for heating in winter. At the same time, the technical team has optimized the operating logic of the air-cooled heating system, enhancing the system’s capabilities for isolation and precise control. This has enabled the elimination of reliance on traditional steam heating for production; the production processes can now be met solely through the device’s own temperature control functions. It is estimated that each such optimization can generate savings of over 2 million yuan per year. 　　Furthermore, this technological upgrade has also led to an improvement in product quality. At present, the content of non-aromatic compounds in toluene and mixed aromatic products produced by this facility is kept stable at below 0.2%, resulting in a significant improvement in the purity and quality of these products; this provides a stable supply of raw materials for downstream production units.
