The turbine-driven centrifugal compressor unit was installed in September 2017 and is ready for steam-induced testing, but it will not start operating until June 2018. Plans are to conduct individual tests and combined air tests in September, after which the unit will be stopped for turning operations. The official dry gas seal will be installed before it starts operating in 2018 – is this appropriate? Please share your opinions
There is a relatively long interval between the completion of installation and the actual start of operation; it is recommended that you carry out the tasks following installation step by step, such as pipeline cleaning and oil circulation. I agree with your view. Also, be mindful of the device’s warranty period. Make sure to complete all the tests that can be done before the warranty period expires; otherwise, it will be very troublesome to do them after that. For imported equipment, the warranty period is generally 18 months from the date of shipment or 12 months after trial operation, whichever comes first. I’m not sure about this warranty period; it’s recommended to verify it.
Dry gas seals are generally tested and installed at the manufacturer’s facility. After on-site air testing and during the bearing inspection process, the manufacturer’s technicians can be called to the site to check the axial installation position of the rotor; if there are any deviations, it is necessary to identify the cause of the problem； During the oil circulation testing before commissioning, it is necessary to introduce isolation gas to prevent lubricating oil from entering the machine ； Before starting the vehicle officially, a filter with at least 200-mesh accuracy should be installed before the fuel reaches the governor, and it is necessary to check whether there are any hard particles in the filter ； Additionally, before starting the vehicle officially, it is necessary to check that the vibration and displacement probes as well as the temperature sensing resistors are properly installed ； Check and confirm the pressure of the accumulator air bag again before driving.
