The reciprocating machines in our factory, those with a 6M capacity, have never had a stable service life for their support rings and piston rings. The longest duration of use for these components was 10 months, while the shortest was just 3 days. What’s going on? The operating conditions remain unchanged; the machines use coke oven gas, and they are designed to be oil-free. We even installed oil injectors. I’d appreciate some advice from everyone.
Could it be a problem with the installation? There’s also the issue of the material; I’ll ask the manufacturer

Check the ovality of its cylinder liner and whether wear has caused wavy steps. If there is, just replace it and it’ll be fine!
1. Check the cylinder for smoothness of the surface and for any impurities. 2. Check the installation. 3. Check whether the operating parameters have changed compared to before. 4. Verify that the materials are of qualified quality. 5. It’s a oil-free design – why add oil?
It can start with 1: inspection of the cylinder liner and piston dimensional accuracy. 2. Piston ring material. 3. Intake air separator. Look for the reasons from several aspects.
1. The material of the oil-free lubrication piston ring should be PEEK; check whether there are any issues with the material. 2. Check whether the cylinder surface is wavy or has any cracks. 3. Since you have changed to oil lubrication, is the bore diameter meeting the requirements, and are the edges of the bore smoothly finished? 4. Check whether the clearance at the piston ring assembly opening is within the required range; otherwise, excessive friction caused by the expansion of the cylinder will lead to increased wear of the piston rings.
