Can the siphon tank of a centrifugal pump be removed?

The centrifugal pump handles high-concentration brine, and the leakage points in the siphon tank are covered with salt deposits. We are considering removing the siphon tank; could anyone please let us know if there are any risks associated with doing so? It is no longer in use in practice, but removing it requires a risk assessment along with an explanation for that decision. So I’d like to broaden my thinking and would appreciate everyone’s advice.
The function of the siphon tank in front of a centrifugal pump is to enable the pump to self-priming; if self-priming is not required on site, it can be removed. If self-priming is still needed, it can be replaced with a self-priming centrifugal pump
Whether it can be canceled depends on what purpose you used the siphon tank for before.
