Lubricant does not vaporize easily; leaks can be clearly seen when they occur, while water can vaporize and thus remain invisible. Leaks in the lubricant system can indeed be fixed, but it is very troublesome to do so. Leaks in the lubricant supply system can only be addressed after the machine is shut down.
Leaks mainly concern materials; lubricants should be classified under equipment failures!
