1. What is the function of the leak collection tank in a reciprocating compressor? 2. What are the respective functions of the on-site pressure release valve and the flare valve located on the compressor’s middle section? 3. What is the purpose of the two liquid cutting lines located at the bottom of the middle section? What situations can cause liquid to form?
【1. What is the function of the leak collection tank in a reciprocating compressor?】The air leaking from the packing is collected in the liquid storage tank, and then the gas phase is released through the outlet at the top of the tank

1. The leak collection tank is used for gas-liquid separation; its purpose is to separate oil contaminants or process media. Most of those used in the past had packing and oil injection holes. 2. On-site venting mainly involves nitrogen sealing; the gas present between the fillers in the intermediate section and the oil skimming plates is mostly nitrogen, with a small portion being process gas, which is vented at the site of leakage. 3. The flare is mainly the packing chamber, that is, the middle section; part of it contains nitrogen used for cooling the packing, while another part allows air leaking from the packing to enter the flare.
