The mechanical seal used in our factory is a type suitable for 206-type reactors, and an oil seal is employed as the sealing medium. There is an oil level indicator in the oil filling port. A certain amount of lubricating oil was already added before operation, with the oil level indicating around 1/2. However, during inspections after operation, it was found that the oil level in the indicator was at full capacity. What could be the reason for this? Previously, it was known that a low oil level might indicate a leak, but now that the oil level is full, what is the cause? The cold weather in the north isn’t caused by the lubricant becoming thinner after the reactor is heated, which in turn leads to an increase in the oil level, right? Please, experts, explain it to me
It’s impossible for the lubricant to fill up even if it becomes thinner; you can refer to the case where Honda’s engine oil kept increasing in volume over time: lol
Does it feel like water has gotten in? Does the temperature difference within the oil chamber cause air condensate to accumulate? Does melting ice and snow seep into the oil chamber? It is recommended to drain it at the bottom to see if there is water.
Why is there an oil cup on the oil filling hole? The oil cup shows the oil level. Send a photo inside? If it is a tank that is used in this setup, following flushing procedure 53A, the tank is equipped with glass sight glasses for monitoring the level of the isolation liquid; a nitrogen line is connected to the top of the tank, ensuring that the pressure there is higher than the pressure inside the tank. A too rapid drop in the tank level indicates a failed seal. If the pressurized nitrogen line is not connected, or if the pressure inside the tank rises above the pressure of the nitrogen, the medium inside the tank will leak into the storage tank through the mechanical seal, causing the liquid level to rise.
It’s the internal seal that’s leaking, causing the material to enter the seal oil.
The mechanical seal on the medium side is leaking, and it’s also possible that the cooling water for the isolation fluid has seeped into the isolation fluid itself

Is it possible that high temperatures have caused a change in the density of the lubricating oil, which in turn led to an increase in the oil level? We are using L-HM46 lubricating oil
Is the cooling water for the isolation fluid flowing properly? If it is flowing smoothly, then the temperature of the isolation fluid should not be too high either
