It’s best not to try to determine this; instead, carry out maintenance in advance based on the service life specified by the manufacturer. Wear of the piston rings, rather than that of the support rings, does not affect the movement of the piston. However, it causes gas leakage during the piston’s movement – the compressed, high-pressure, high-temperature gas leaks to the side of the piston where intake is taking place. As a result, the outlet temperature rises, the outlet pressure fluctuates, and the flow rate decreases; there may also be an audible sound indicating gas leakage
