The reason for the bearing burnout might be a lack of oil. Here, the quality of the cooling water is poor, which leads to frequent blockages in the pipes. Do anyone have any good suggestions for improving the water quality or enhancing the corrosion resistance of the pipes?
If conditions permit, it is advisable to switch the fan periodically and carry out backwashing of the cooling water pipes as well as reverse air blowing, since the cooling oil temperature and the cooling water coils are very fine, making them prone to clogging!
If possible, technical upgrades can also be used to replace the circulating water with cleaner water such as deionized water
Clean it regularly, or set up a separate demineralization station

This needs to be addressed from two aspects; one is to solve the lubrication problem; Secondly, regular condition monitoring should be organized; if an increase in bearing temperature or vibration is detected, the cooling water pipes need to be cleaned or the lubricating oil replaced.
Filters installed on the cooling water pipes should be switched and cleaned regularly. Install flow indicators on the inlet and outlet pipes. During inspections, check the oil quality and level, as well as monitor the bearing temperature. The bearing has a remote temperature sensor – is there no one in the control room to monitor it? Install a temperature audio-visual alarm.
1. Switch to oil mist lubrication to completely eliminate the problem of bearings burning out due to lack of oil; however, installing an oil mist lubrication system for just one fan is too costly. 2. Use demineralized water as the cooling medium, or install 2 filters before the cooling water – one in use and one as a backup – which is simple and convenient. 3. A hole should be made in the cooling water supply for the fan bearing housing as a low-point drain; the valve should be opened periodically to remove any debris from within the pipe. The effectiveness of this method is average, but it is relatively simple to implement.
The key reason is that the cooling water was insufficient, and the oil level of the lubricating oil was too low, resulting in dry running and thus shaft seizure and burnout.

We still need to address the problem at its root: 1. If possible, it is recommended to use softened water; 2. If conditions do not permit it, it is still necessary to regularly monitor the operation of the equipment, especially the bearing temperature, and to periodically backwash the cooling water coils ; 3. Enhance the inspection awareness of operators, so that adjustments and actions can be taken promptly upon detecting temperature changes.
