I would like to ask about the common types of shaft seals used for blowers in applications where the outlet pressure is very low; since nitrogen containing organic gases is being pumped, it is not allowed for air to leak in.
Before nitrogen enters the compressor, its pressure should be higher than atmospheric pressure. I’m not sure what your process is – is it design or technical modification? There are many types of blowers, which can be classified as positive-displacement or centrifugal types. Typically, centrifugal types use a relatively high-pressure gas of the same type as a sealant acting within the sealing chamber. Its equipment structure is special. Positive-displacement types are relatively simpler. I’m not sure if it’s a design requirement or a procurement requirement. It will be more troublesome if the fan needs to be upgraded.

The fans used in technical upgrades for VOC waste gas collection in atmospheric pressure storage tanks require prevention of air leakage or leakage of VOC-containing gases! Also, are there many manufacturers of such fans? If comb-tooth sealing is used along with nitrogen, is a large amount of nitrogen required?
Inert gas sealing is used; if that doesn’t work, a mechanical seal is added to ensure no leaks at all, though the cost is higher
