I work in the turbine industry, and when communicating with clients, in addition to discussing the structure and principles of the equipment itself, I often talk about various issues that arise during turbine operation. Some of these problems are easy to diagnose, such as oil or steam leaks, jamming, etc. However, issues like bearing vibration, fluctuations in rotational speed, and abnormal bearing temperatures require more advanced methods for analysis. As the procedures for users to manage devices become more detailed and refined, people also develop their own understanding of these devices, and feel that they need to keep learning in order to stay up to date with the changes. Some time ago, I was at Zhejiang Petrochemical for a business meeting, and there I encountered a steam turbine whose vibration levels before and after it were abnormal, with these vibrations being correlated to each other. The vibration level of the rear bearing was slightly higher, but not by much. Over time, the frequency of these vibrations increased, and their amplitude also grew larger. The TSI monitoring system that comes standard with the turbine itself allows one to view a lot of information; the monitoring systems provided by the manufacturer of the main unit offer even more details. Therefore, I searched for a lot of information online, studied it, and compiled it together as a way to keep myself motivated. Several commonly used online monitoring and fault detection systems include Bentley’s One System, Alstom’s Crevasse, Shenyang Blower’s SG8000, Hangzhou Steam Turbine’s HTC system, Shaanxi Blower’s system, and Rongshi. CRESCENT’s testing systems entered the Chinese market relatively early; some of the information found online was extremely valuable when I first started working with them. Later on, Alstom’s related materials were not updated much, and there is less of that information available now. Recently, I came into contact with the SG8000 from SHENGU; this system is relatively independent. For some SIS systems that do not have external communication capabilities, the monitoring signals read by the SIS are in the form of current outputs, whereas the SG8000 can read the raw voltage data from the transmitter’s BUF port.
