Traditionally, evaporators are used to evaporate and concentrate lithium carbonate solutions; however, scaling tends to occur in the evaporator during this concentration process. Membrane concentration technology can be used to convert lithium carbonate into lithium bicarbonate, which is then further concentrated and converted back into lithium carbonate crystals
“Using membrane concentration technology, lithium carbonate can be converted into concentrated lithium bicarbonate, which is then transformed back into lithium carbonate. During the heating process, doesn’t it turn back into carbonate again? What is the exact principle behind this?
This process is already in use at present
How can we ensure that all lithium carbonate is converted into lithium bicarbonate? The solubility of lithium carbonate is very low. Even if it is concentrated into a high-concentration solution of lithium bicarbonate using membranes, how can the evaporation system ensure that scaling does not occur during the heating process? Additionally, when a large amount of bicarbonate ions convert to carbonate ions inside the evaporator, the resulting carbon dioxide will create an excess of non-condensable gases; could this affect the evaporation capacity of the MVR system?
