When a motor’s shaft gets stuck, it is necessary to distinguish between sliding bearings and rolling bearings. “The “shaft-hugging” phenomenon is mainly observed in equipment with sliding bearings. The main reason is issues with the oil system, such as problems with the physical and chemical properties of the oil. There are also factors such as imbalance in the rotor’s dynamic balance and excessive axial force. After the shaft is held in place, it’s not possible to manually rotate the motor; basically, the bearings are damaged, and it’s possible that the surface of the spindle is also damaged

Operating a motor for an extended period with insufficient grease in its bearings causes the bearings to overheat and suffer from dry friction, which leads to seizure of the bearings. In such cases, the temperatures of the inner rings of the bearings and the surface of the shaft become too high, resulting in adhesion and seizure; this makes it more difficult to remove the bearings, and damage to the surface of the motor shaft may occur, requiring repair
