Calculation methods for safety valves, and the principles and necessity of installing dual safety valves?
I want to leave my name behind; I also want to learn*. Which specification contains the relevant requirements?
I’m not sure whether a dual safety valve is required by some standard, or if it’s because the required diameter is too large; it’s difficult to decide in either case.
Personally, I think it comes down to the volume of flow and pressure: first, there is a need for rapid pressure relief, and second, to prevent failures of the safety valves; that’s why double valves are used for high-pressure and hazardous substances. It’s purely my personal understanding.
It is not necessary to equip the nitrogen tank with dual safety valves, unless required by the customer...
A 100M3 nitrogen storage tank is certainly not small; is the outlet behind the safety valve connected directly to the atmosphere? This is probably done to control emissions or in case of a failure of the safety valve.
There’s no need for that; those of us with large hydrogen reserves don’t have dual valves, and safety valves are provided according to the size of the storage tank
There are no explicit provisions in the standards and specifications.
Standard requirements for spherical tanks containing explosive media specify the installation of 2 safety valves.
