Dear marine industry professionals, as the title suggests: The original valves used by our company were ordinary DN80, PN2.5 gate valves; due to corrosion issues, they were replaced with DN80, PN2.5 stainless steel 304 gate valves. Upon receipt of these new valves, we found that they were very light, and the diameter of their flanges was smaller as well as the thickness of the flanges. When we communicated with the manufacturer, they said that different manufacturing standards were used, and suggested that we check this in the market. Is this explanation valid? Thank you
There are standard and non-standard versions, and it is important to clarify these, especially the pressure rating and the bolt spacing of the flanges. There are also things like operating temperature, etc.
There should be standard requirements when placing an order; just check according to those standards.
Currently, different valve manufacturers produce valves with varying body weights; there are medium-weight, heavy-weight, and even lightweight versions. Sometimes customers push the prices down too much; in other words, they want to pay as little as possible for the goods
Not much of a price reduction – the flange is thinner, so the weight is lower as well
Most of the standards are not national standards or standards set by the Ministry of Chemical Industry; among these standards, there is no information regarding weight, but there is data on the thickness of valve flanges
Do I also need to specify the flange hole spacing when ordering the valve? All other parameters have been provided
