What is the basis for pressure vessel lug supports to be used without shims? Under what specific circumstances can shims be omitted?

Check the standards – the new standard NB/T 47065.3, clause P88, section 8.3: whether shims are required or not, as well as the issue of local stress; refer to the explanatory notes for details. The standards are based on the calculation methods specified in the German AD code S2/3. The AD2000 code can be found online
In 4712 and 47065, the requirement not to use shims applies only to containers with an internal diameter DN≤900, and two conditions must be met: a) the effective thickness of the container shell is greater than 3 mm； b) The material of the container shell and the material of the supports have the same or similar chemical composition and mechanical properties. On AD 2000, the versions available online are the 79th edition and the English version. If DN=1300 or DN=1750, is it possible to omit the shims in such cases?
I’ve learned it anyway – it’s better to use shims according to the standards!
