The high-pressure steam in our facility has a pressure of 9.8 MPa and a temperature of 540°C. The current insulation material used is aluminum silicate; are there any materials that offer better insulation properties? Our insulation thickness is 200 mm. I would like to ask: under normal conditions, what should be the temperature difference between the surface of the aluminum sheet and the atmosphere? Currently, the temperature difference in Devon is around 40°C, with some areas having a difference as high as 60°C.

The temperature difference is too large; the thickness isn’t sufficient! Thicken the insulation further!

The outer steam pipe is hot; if its temperature is high, it can easily cause burns. People who collect scrap, those who cultivate land in unused areas, or children playing there may all suffer accidents, so special attention must be paid.
The insulation thickness must comply with the design requirements; it cannot be increased indiscriminately, as this will affect the installation and use of pipeline accessories.
Where did the 3° come from? The surface temperature of the general insulation layer is around 50°.
