Questions regarding the forging grade

This leads to a question: According to clause 6.4.3.4 on page P57 of standard HG/T20581-2011, forgings for which the toxicity of the medium used is extremely or highly hazardous, as well as forgings with a nominal thickness greater than 300 mm, must meet the requirements of grade III or grade IV. So there are issues: 1. Are forgings of grade III or IV only used when the material meets the requirements and the nominal thickness is also appropriate? 2. Or, as long as the medium meets the requirements or the nominal thickness is appropriate, must Grade III or IV forgings be used whenever forgings are employed? My understanding: If it’s answer 1, then why not change “as well as” in the original standard to “and”? If it is answer 2, this clause in the original standard should be directly revised to include two requirements in order to avoid ambiguity.
This standard itself is an industry-recommended standard that can only provide principle-based guidance; the specific selection of forging grade is left to the designers to determine based on the specifics of the container.
1. GB/T150-2011 and GB/T151-2014 have also become advisory standards, but the provisions therein are still mandatory to be followed. 2. The provisions in industry standards are established by experts; some of these provisions must not be ambiguous. If questions arise, it indicates that there is ambiguity in the rules, and typical designers will follow the strictest interpretation when applying them.

And it means that all of these need to be done in this way; they are not the same – one has a higher level of hazard, while the other has a greater thickness

I agree with what was said on floor 7; the standard wording should be clear enough, so what’s there to discuss?
SH/T3075 is clearer; it divides the requirements into 2 separate provisions, which prevents any ambiguity for those who refer to this standard
Standard HG/T20581-2011 makes it clear: as long as the medium meets the requirements, or the nominal thickness of the forging meets the specified criteria, then the forging should satisfy the requirements for grade III or IV; it is not necessary for both the medium and the nominal thickness to meet the requirements for grade III or IV to be applicable.
