Uses and installation of double-headed bolts. In fact, double-headed bolts are quite common in our daily lives, but not everyone is familiar with how to use them. It can be said that we know very little about their usage methods. Therefore, Pult Fasteners will now explain to you the purposes and installation of double-headed bolts. 【Explanation of the Uses of Double-End Bolts】 1. Double-end bolts can be used in large-scale main equipment, where they are needed for accessories such as sight glasses, mechanical seal seats, and reducer frames. At this point, double-headed bolts are used: one end of the bolt is inserted into the main structure, and after installation, the connector is attached to the other end of the nut. Since the connector is often removed and reinstalled, its external threads may get damaged or ruined; using double-headed bolts makes it easier to replace it. 2. Double-headed bolts can be used to connect objects with large thicknesses, as they can be employed when the bolts have a very long length. 3. Double-headed bolts can be used to connect thick plates and in situations where it is not convenient to use hex bolts, such as in concrete roof trusses, roof beam suspension systems, and single-track beam hangers. 【Installation method of double-headed bolts】 1. Lubricant must be used when installing double-headed bolts; this is to prevent the bolts from getting stuck during tightening, and it also facilitates removal for repeated installation. To ensure the tightness between the fastening end of the stud bolt and the threads of the equipment frame, and to prevent any loosening of the stud bolt during the process of installing or removing the nut, the fastening end of the stud bolt should have a slight excess dimension, providing a certain amount of interference; a shoulder structure can be used for this purpose. 2. The axis of the double-headed bolt must be perpendicular to the surface of the machine body; this point must be taken into account when drilling pilot holes and tapping threads. It is advisable to use a square for checking during installation. If there is a slight tilt between the axis and the machine body’s surface, the screw hole can be corrected using a tap. If the tilt is significant, force should not be used for correction to avoid damaging the bolt. 3. Double-headed bolts serve the function of providing a secure connection between mechanical components; both ends of such bolts are threaded, while the shaft in the middle can be either thick or thin. Double-headed bolts are primarily used in boiler steel structures, mining machinery, bridges, motorcycles, automobiles, large-span steel structures, cranes, and large buildings.
