09MnNiDR is a material prone to delayed cracking; for pressure vessels manufactured from this material, it is necessary to conduct non-destructive testing after overall heat treatment. The actual situation was as follows: the manufacturer delivered a container made of 09MnNiDR at the site. When the supervisor organized the inspection, he pointed out that 09MnNiDR is a material prone to delayed cracking, and therefore a report on non-destructive testing after heat treatment was required. He also cited a pipeline standard stating that non-destructive testing was necessary; however, the technical requirements specified in the design did not include any requirement for non-destructive testing after heat treatment. I would like to ask everyone: is non-destructive testing necessary for containers made of 09MnNiDR after heat treatment? What standard should be followed for this?
The supervisor’s response should be in the form of a correspondence such as a liaison note or notice, indicating what arguments are used to require heat treatment before proceeding with non-destructive testing. Manufacturing plants usually have their own weld qualification reports. Another reference is 10.2.3 of GB150.4-2011: \"For those prone to delayed cracking, non-destructive testing is required 24 hours after welding; for those prone to reheat cracking, another non-destructive test is necessary after heat treatment.\"
