Dear teachers, how to forge and surfacing 316L on 15CrMo? I would appreciate some guidance, thank you!
First, fix the forging using fixtures that can withstand welding-induced deformation. Next, clean the surface of the forging to remove iron oxide, rust, and other contaminants. After that, start preheating; once the temperature reaches the suitable level for welding, begin the surfacing process. During surfacing, continue to preheat simultaneously, and do not stop preheating even when welding is in progress. Just my humble opinion, thank you!
First, weld E309L, then weld E316L.
This post was last edited by gn_1984 on 2021-7-20 09:29; the third floor is the correct answer. First, E309L is welded on as a transition layer, with a thickness of around 3 mm. After welding, stress-relief heat treatment is carried out along with surface inspection. Then, E316L is welded on as the surface layer, also with a thickness of not less than 3 mm. Ultrasonic testing is performed on the entire welded layer, and PT testing is conducted after the surface layer is processed; in some cases, chemical composition analysis is also carried out on a 2-mm layer from the surface.
Regarding the welding materials, as mentioned above, just follow the requirements specified in the standards
There is no one to guide you on this; you need to follow the welding procedure specifications.
If not, it doesn’t matter how well you weld.
