For the S30408Ⅱ manhole flange with an S31603 lining ring, is a stainless steel surfacing welding process required?
It should not be necessary; welding of the same material does not fall under the category of welding different types of steel
Our welding engineers said that cladding and surfacing are the same thing and both require surfacing work, but when we asked other experienced engineers, they all said that just one 1G+2FG stainless steel project is sufficient. I just don’t know which side to listen to now
If lining is also called surfacing, then the lining plate is pressed together with screws, and those screws are then sealed by welding… just like in the case of titanium lining
If there are transition layers and a cover layer, it is better to include a surfacing process as well.
