When conducting a welding process evaluation and the steel material is not available, can an 8mm thick steel plate be cut into 4mm thick pieces? Are there any requirements regarding the proportion by which steel plates can be divided?
A 6mm thick steel plate can be thinned to 4mm using mechanical methods
Can’t the 8mm steel plate be treated in this way?
8mm tofu can be cut in half.
What is the thickness range for the weld evaluation you need to perform? It would be better to increase it to 8 mm (1.5 mm < T ≤ 10 mm), thereby covering the 4 mm range you are working with. The test specimens are also easier to machine than 4mm specimens.
8mm isn’t within this range, right? At 8mm, an impact test is required; it’s the range from 8 to 16, so 5mm isn’t covered

Unscientifically speaking, it’s fine to use 100 thickness and take 4 units – as long as the evaluation is satisfactory; Scientifically speaking, below a certain thickness, the specimens evaluated are different……
Allow such operation! You can even forge a large cube. . Mill it to 4mm thick. . :lol
