Hello everyone: Our company has an YYW.1500Y.Q organic heat carrier boiler. It has been using natural gas until now, and we now want to switch to a mixture of biogas and natural gas for combustion; the manufacturer has confirmed that there are no issues from a technical or procedural standpoint. I still have two questions: 1. Does a change in fuel constitute a major change, and what documents are required to be submitted to the special inspection agency? ; 2. Will nitrogen oxide levels exceed the limit after mixed combustion? If there are any modified versions, I hope we can further discuss them. I hope to get answers from Haiyou; thank you!
Boiler modifications include 1. structural changes, and 2. modifications to the combustion method, but they do not constitute major repairs. This renovation necessarily requires coordination with the Special Inspection Agency. 1. When the fuel is changed, thermal calculations must be adjusted; the burner must have a type test report, and all these documents need to be submitted to the special inspection agency for record-keeping. 2. The lower calorific value of biogas is significantly different from that of natural gas; when mixed for use, the rated power may not reach 1500. 3. There’s no need to worry about nitrogen oxides; levels are generally within the specified limits. 4. As a reminder, adding biogas pipelines also requires changes to the boiler room; don’t forget to submit the relevant documentation for your boiler room. Otherwise, with so many inspections by various departments, having the boiler shut down could be disastrous for you! Make an effort to visit the environmental protection agencies, market supervision departments, and special inspection institutes; don’t forget about monitoring boiler exhaust emissions as well

The second floor covers almost everything; here, I’ll add a few points regarding combustion technology. Changing the fuel generally has little impact on the boiler, other than a slight decrease in power. However, both the burner and the air distribution of the fan need to be redesigned and calculated from scratch. Especially the burner, it is likely to need to be replaced. Due to changes in the fuel, both the heat value and the ignition property change; burners that were functioning normally before may now exhibit yellow flames or flame failure. This part needs to be determined jointly by the process team and the burner manufacturer.
