For devices with small diameters, such as DN250, when seamless steel pipes are used as the cylinder body, pipe flanges specified in HG/T20592-2009 and HG/T20615-2009 are often chosen as the device flanges. Is it then necessary to perform strength calculations for these pipe flanges? In the case of image device flanges, which serve as the primary pressure-bearing elements, calculations can be omitted when they are subjected only to hydrostatic pressure. It cannot be determined; the strength calculation should be carried out in accordance with Chapter 7 of GB/T150.3. Software SW6 can be used for this.

Personally, I think there’s no need for calculations; the stress on pipe flanges is more complex, while equipment flanges only bear hydrostatic pressure
