Re-inspection of grade 4 stainless steel forgings: per the drawing requirements, mechanical properties are to be re-tested for each batch, while chemical composition is to be re-tested for each furnace. What items are included in mechanical properties? Does it mean just retesting the tensile strength is sufficient, or is bending testing also required? Personally, I don’t think impact is necessary! NB/T47010 should only cover tension testing. For carbon steel, aren’t it tension and impact tests? !

The mechanical property tests usually include tests such as tension, bending, and impact. Among them, tensile testing is a necessary test to evaluate properties of the material such as tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation ； Bending test is used to evaluate the bending properties of materials ； Impact testing is used to evaluate a material’s impact resistance when subjected to impact loads. For the re-inspection of grade 4 stainless steel forgings, in accordance with the requirements of NB/T 47010 standard, only tensile testing is generally required. For carbon steel forgings, the retesting items generally also include tensile and impact tests. .
If it is not at low temperatures (below -196°C), only tensile retesting should be conducted.
