Has anyone disassembled a fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger? What is its internal structure like? I have previously disassembled U-tube type heat exchangers, as well as those of the axe-type design; I’m familiar with their internal structure. However, I have never disassembled heat exchangers of the fixed-tube-sheet type. From information found online, it seems that such heat exchangers have tube sheets at both ends of the tube bundle. So how are those tube sheets connected to the shell? Is it connected by bolts directly? If there are tube sheets on both sides of the heat exchanger, won’t the tube bundle be unable to be removed if it gets damaged?

In fixed-tube-sheet heat exchangers, the tube bundle cannot be removed; if there are problems with the tube bundle, only the middle section of the heat exchanger can be replaced.
In a fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger, the tube bundle cannot be removed; if a tube leaks, it can be plugged up, and plugging individual tubes will not affect operation.
In fixed-tube-sheet heat exchangers, the tube sheet is usually welded to the shell, and the tube bundle cannot be removed. A small number of tubes in the bundle are leaking; usually, the tubes at both ends are blocked (using trapezoidal plugs). Smash it in. (Weld it outside again); if there is excessive leakage, the heat exchanger usually needs to be replaced entirely.
The tube sheets at both ends are connected to the shell by welding, expansion joining, or a combination of both; once the tube bundle is damaged, it cannot be removed.
