I have a question: if the design pressure on both sides of a plate heat exchanger is 6 kg, does that mean it can withstand a operating pressure of 6 kg regardless of whether there is a fluid flowing on the other side?
If the medium pressure and flow rate are the same, either route will work; a plate heat exchanger is an example of such a solution. In the case of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, many of the internal tubes are made of stainless steel while the shell is made of carbon steel. Different media can cause corrosion to the tubes or the shell, and variations in flow rate also pose issues; therefore, their use is advised with caution.
