Dear seniors, there’s a process scenario where hot water at 80°C is used to heat nitrile latex at 50°C. Is it feasible to use a plate heat exchanger with wide flow channels for this purpose? Additionally, what materials should be used for the heat exchanger plates and gaskets?
The plate heat exchanger is fine. Plate 304, gasket made of fluororubber or PTFE
1. Ordinary plate heat exchangers might not work in this case; it is believed that NBR and EPDM are mutually soluble with nitrile latex (the original poster can verify this). 2. Is the viscosity of nitrile latex relatively high? If so, a plate heat exchanger with wide channels can be considered.
