Hello everyone, when using Aspen EDR to calculate the wall temperatures of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, the results show only the average wall temperatures for the shell side and the tube side, as well as the highest and lowest wall temperatures on the tube side; however, the highest and lowest wall temperatures on the shell side are not displayed. In Analysis along Tubes, only the distribution data of the metal temperature in the tube side is included; there is no data on the distribution of the metal temperature in the shell side. Where can I obtain these data? Additionally, when calculating the average wall temperature in the shell side, does the program take into account external heat exchange (such as insulation layers, ambient temperature, etc.)? Fortunately, I was able to find the relevant information; let me answer it myself: The average metal temperature of the shell is a weighted average based on distance, with the assumption that the shell temperature is equal to the temperature of the fluid flowing through the shell side Therefore, the maximum and minimum values of the shell wall temperature are exactly the maximum and minimum values of the fluid temperature in the shell side! The calculation process does not take into account heat exchange with the environment, that is, heat dissipation is not considered! ! I hope this will be helpful to those who have the same questions!
