The workshop uses a bromine cooling and recovery unit, and glass condensers are employed on-site. However, these condensers tend to crack due to use in such conditions; therefore, we are looking for an alternative material that would be suitable for this purpose. Please offer your suggestions
Bromine is highly permeable, making sealing a challenge. Currently, there are many cases of silicon carbide condensers being used to replace glass; it seems that the use of glass may be prohibited by regulations. If that’s not possible, consider glass-lined disc or tube-type exchangers; their heat exchange efficiency is not very good, but they are adequate for use in condensation applications. It’s best to consult a professional manufacturer for details.
