Welding issues with 321 stainless steel

Recently, the factory had a batch of atmospheric pressure vessels made of 321 stainless steel, and there were disputes regarding the welding machine to be used during submerged arc welding... I personally think that HJ260 would work, but our technical team insists that SJ641 should be used as specified in the standards. This type of welding flux is now very rare; most distributors do not have it in stock. I just want to ask the seniors whether HJ260 will work

I can’t specify the exact grade, but I can offer some advice. There are mandatory standards as well as recommended standards. You should check what type of standard applies to the grade mentioned by your technical team; if it’s a mandatory standard, then there’s nothing further to discuss. If it’s not mandatory, going through the book once can help review what you’ve learned, and there’s no harm in that. Of course, it would be even better if there were experts in welding on the forum who could provide reliable answers :)
