A car dumper is the most mechanized and fastest type of coal unloading machinery. It features high coal unloading efficiency, large production capacity, no need for manual cleaning of the vehicle, reliable operation, a high degree of automation, and low labor intensity, but it requires substantial capital investment. A screw coal unloader uses the rotation of a screw to remove coal from one or both sides; it generally takes 6 to 7 minutes to unload one truckload of coal. A unilateral helix means unidirectional coal discharge, while a bilateral helix means bidirectional coal discharge. It is suitable for unloading small coal or crushed coal, and it also has a certain degree of adaptability to thawed coal; generally, manual cleaning of the storage area is required. The unloading device of the screw unloader is a long-slit coal chute; with this device in use, coal falls into the coal chute from the grates on both sides of the railway, spreads out on the unloading platform through the long slit at its lower edge, and is then fed onto the belt of the belt conveyor by a paddle feeder. Since the length of the coal chute is generally designed based on around 10 carriages, and the height difference between the coal conveying belt at the bottom and the railway bed at the top is about 9.5 meters, the capital investment required is high. Moreover, the unloading process causes significant environmental pollution (unless the coal is washed before unloading). A chain bucket unloader, also known as a gantry type chain bucket unloader, can be positioned across the freight car; it unloads coal by using chain buckets to scoop up the coal and then transporting it outward via conveyor belts. There is no need to open the door during unloading, which improves efficiency; the coal can be unloaded several meters away from the tracks, facilitating continuous unloading ; Both the walking speed and conveying capacity are relatively stable, making it easy to operate in conjunction with other machinery. The advantages of the chain bucket unloader are that it requires no additional civil engineering works, the construction is simple, the capital investment for civil works is low, it is easy to use, and multiple units can operate simultaneously along the train tracks. However, the stacking width is limited by the length of the conveyor on the machine, manual cleaning of the storage area is necessary, and it causes significant environmental pollution during unloading.
