Hi, your industrial control assistant is back! How was your weekend? Today’s little piece of knowledge we’re sharing is about electric control valves; let’s take a look together. The function of electric control valves: Control valves play a very important role in the automatic control of modern factories, as production depends on the proper distribution and control of flowing liquids and gases. Gas-liquid control, whether it involves energy exchange, pressure reduction, or simply filling a container, relies on certain final control elements to carry out these tasks. The final control element can be considered the “physical strength” of automatic control. Between the low-energy level of the regulator and the high-energy level function required to control the flowing fluid, the final control element performs the necessary power amplification. The electric control valve features fault detection, alarm, and protection functions for interrupted control signals. The cut-off signal can cause the actuator to turn on, turn off, remain in its current state, or be set at any predetermined position within the range of 0–100%. As well as functions for detecting stall faults with valves, issuing alarms, and providing protection. The series features a top-guided, single-seat sealing structure. Compared with other similar control valves, this control valve boasts outstanding advantages such as a simple structure, a high rated flow coefficient, and low seat leakage. Furthermore, those with a soft-sealing structure possess both regulating and shutting-off functions; they are regulating valves of the regulating-shutting type that can also be used as shut-off valves. Advantages of electric control valves: 1. They are convenient and cost-effective to use, as they eliminate the need for a gas supply station and thus save on the associated costs; 2. Unlike the complex setup involving a pneumatic valve, an electrical valve actuator, and a gas supply, this approach not only increases costs but also reduces reliability (the more components there are, the greater the chances of reliability issues); 3. From an economic perspective, in addition to avoiding the costs associated with a gas supply station, it is also possible to save on the cost of electrical valve actuators. A quality imported electrical valve actuator typically costs between 5,000 and 6,000 yuan, while higher-quality ones cost between 8,000 and 10,000 yuan – an amount that is sufficient to purchase a highly reliable electronic actuator; 4. With fewer components, there is less work required for maintenance. Disadvantages of electric control valves: 1. The internal heat generated by the motor can trigger thermal protection, causing the control valve to stop working; 2. Since the motor needs to go through multiple reduction stages in order to generate torque, its operating speed is not very high, making it unsuitable for applications that require rapid opening and closing. Achieving high torque along with high speed remains a challenging issue; 3. Due to the large number of moving parts, these valves are prone to failures. In situations where frequent adjustments are needed, problems such as motor thermal protection, damaged reduction gears, and burned-out thyristors can occur.
