There was a slurry pump at the site that had been operating normally for about 5 months; one day, the temperature of the bearing on the motor side rose to over 100 degrees. These are pictures taken after disassembling the pump, and the rollers had turned blue.
For completeness, the bearing model is 7224ac 22224ca
Replace the bearings, clean the impeller, align the rotor connections, and check the wear condition of various parts of the rotor. Also, any issues with poor flow at the process inlet and outlet should be addressed. Common problems that occur in the bearing housings of slurry pumps include poor quality of lubricating oil (such as water intrusion or other mechanical impurities), misalignment of the rotor, and loose foundation bolts. These areas need to be checked and confirmed. For reference.
Thank you for your answer. Today, after separating the self-aligning bearing, I noticed that the inner ring had some chipping. Another question: according to the manufacturer, the 7224AC deep groove ball bearing has a specific installation direction – is that correct?
This post was last edited by CHANGBAISHI on 2021-2-17 07:33. Don’t deep groove ball bearings lack the ability to overcome axial forces? There shouldn’t be any direction, right? Deep groove ball bearings mainly bear radial loads and provide support, while tapered roller bearings have a locking function. However, it is not as good as dedicated thrust bearings. It is often necessary to regularly adjust the axial clearance of the rotor. It is best to use it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. However, it cannot be used as a reason for the damage. For reference.
The deep groove ball bearing with the code 7224ac is designed to bear axial loads, while the self-aligning roller bearing 22224ca is intended for bearing radial loads. The manufacturer states that these two types of bearings should be used together, but when installing them, shims must be added based on the measurement results
