Regarding the shielding in TIG welding

Generally, TIG welding uses argon as a shielding gas; however, there is a trend nowadays to use nitrogen as the shielding gas for stainless steel welding. It seems there’s no difference in welding quality or speed! The key is that nitrogen is much cheaper than argon! What do you all think?
If it’s allowed, it would definitely be good if it’s cheap too
I’ve seen the product; the color of the welds and the quality of the X-ray images are all fine
It is used only for back protection; none have been seen for arc protection, as nitrogen used for arc protection gets ionized and is prone to nitriding
Are you saying that nitrogen is used as the arc gas in all cases? Haven’t seen it
It hasn’t been detailed to this level yet. This relates to corporate technological innovation; if quality is to be ensured, the cost should remain the same
