At my previous workplace, we would apply a layer of anti-corrosion paint to the outside of stainless steel equipment after it was put into use, in order to prevent external contaminants from corroding the surface of the equipment; Recently, I met an experienced technician with many years of experience in equipment management, who said that non-ferrous metals do not require painting for corrosion protection. I would like to invite all members here to discuss whether it is necessary to apply such painting or not What’s the benefit of doing it? And what criteria are used to decide that it’s not necessary to do it? Or what impact does it have on the material itself? Personally, I recommend doing it; after all, stainless steel does rust, and it will certainly provide good external protection.
There’s no need to do it. First of all, the material you choose is definitely corrosion-resistant, so there’s no need to worry. A few minor rust spots on the surface are not a big issue
When selecting materials, corrosion resistance is certainly a key consideration, but in practical use, maintenance and other activities may occur, and it’s possible that there will be more than just a little rust
If you are painting to prevent corrosion, then it’s unnecessary. If the reason for painting is for identification and as a marker to distinguish a certain type of pipeline, then it can be painted
Painting can be used if the unit cost is high; P
