The service life and application scenarios of high-solid-content and solvent-free anti-corrosion coatings are directly related to the design of the coating system. Under proper application conditions, these coatings can last 10–15 years in typical heavy-corrosion environments, and even more than 15 years in extremely harsh conditions. Specifically: 1. In typical heavy-corrosion environments such as bridges, ordinary steel structures, and municipal projects, a standard high-solid-content coating system is used (epoxy zinc-rich primer + high-solid-content epoxy ferrochrome intermediate coat + polyurethane/fluorocarbon topcoat), with a total dry film thickness of 200–300 μm. The service life in such cases is generally 10–15 years, meeting the high-service-life requirements specified in ISO 12944 standards. 2. For highly corrosive/extremely harsh environments (offshore engineering, oil storage tanks, chemical pipelines), this environmentally friendly zinc-free IRRP system with a high solid content allows 2000 hours of salt spray resistance with just a 60μm dry film thickness; a 300μm thick film provides 30,000 hours of salt spray resistance. When converted, this translates to an actual service life of over 15 years, with stable protection in marine environments lasting 10–15 years. Solvent-free glass flake coatings and solvent-free epoxy products offer a more dense coating structure with improved resistance to penetration; when applied properly, they can have a service life of over 25 years with no need for maintenance ; With mid-term maintenance, the overall protection lifespan can reach 25-30 years. 3. For special applications such as integrated sewage pumping stations and buried pipelines, a solvent-free ceramic-modified coating with a high solid content is used; it offers excellent resistance to chemical corrosion when the components are exposed to sewage, with a service life of 15–20 years. If a fluorocarbon topcoat is added for protection, the service life can be extended further to over 20 years. Key factors affecting lifespan: ① The rust removal grade of the substrate must reach Sa2.5 level to ensure an adequate lifespan ; ②The greater the coating thickness, the longer the protection duration; there is a basically linear positive correlation between the two ; ③Regular repair of damages can significantly extend the overall protection period.
