How to be mindful of corrosion damage caused by poor structural design, manufacturing, and maintenance?
Whether the structure of the equipment is reasonable, whether its manufacturing is proper, and whether its maintenance and repair are adequate all have a significant impact on the equipment’s corrosion resistance. By \"reasonable\", \"proper\", and \"adequate\", we mainly refer to the following two aspects: (1) To enable the corrosion resistance of the manufacturing materials to be fully utilized, it is necessary to minimize the chances of corrosion cells forming and to reduce the intensity of their activity. In particular, it is necessary to avoid conditions that exacerbate localized corrosion, such as liquid stagnation, uneven temperature, uneven concentration, gaps, dead corners, stress concentration, turbulence, and impacts. (2) The equipment structure should facilitate inspection, maintenance, and replacement, as it is impossible or uneconomical to expect the equipment to remain free from corrosion. Corrosion control refers to keeping the corrosion rate of equipment at a reasonably acceptable level. Thus, it is essential to check the corrosion condition of the equipment and repair or replace the components or parts that have suffered corrosion damage. Furthermore, when carrying out structural design, conditions should be considered to facilitate corrosion prevention work, ensuring that such work (such as surface cleaning and painting) can be carried out smoothly. It should be particularly noted that the quality of equipment maintenance and anti-corrosion work is crucial for the corrosion resistance and service life of the equipment.
