For the high-salinity and high-COD wastewater generated in coal chemical industries, with TDS of 18,000 mg/l, COD of 804 mg/l, and chloride ions at 3,000 mg/l, what materials are generally used for equipment and pipelines?
If the temperature is not high, 2205 duplex steel or pipes lined with plastic can be chosen; if the temperature is high, 2507 duplex steel or titanium pipes can be selected. This is just my personal opinion for reference only
In my opinion, if the pH value is neutral, carbon steel offers the best cost-performance ratio; 316L can also be used.
For chloride corrosion, plastic pipes such as PP can be used, as well as rubber linings and heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings. Storage tanks can be equipped with rubber linings, polyurea anti-corrosion treatments, and other heavy-duty anti-corrosion coatings. It is recommended not to use stainless steel, as chloride ions can cause pitting corrosion in this material.
