Under such conditions of medium, temperature, and slight positive pressure, it is recommended to use glass-lined equipment; the outer cylinder can be made of carbon steel while the interior is lined with enamel.
The enamel wore out; it broke after less than a year of use. Even with fluoride ions present, the enamel still didn’t hold up;
Consider using a fluorinated lining inside the direct enamel coating; heat transfer might be slower, but the impact isn’t significant, so it’s worth considering.
If funding permits, should Hastelloy C-276 be considered? Its corrosion resistance should meet the requirements
Is your reaction an endothermic one? Does it need to be cooled? For non-metallic materials, the main options are PTFE, enamel, and PFA in spray-coated form ; 1. The PTFE-lined material (with a thickness of 4 mm) has a high coefficient of thermal expansion at such high temperatures, and it is not easy to cool it externally (PTFE has a very poor thermal conductivity, resulting in long heating or cooling times) ; 2. Coating with PFA (thickness 0.8 mm) provides resistance to fluorine and high temperatures, and its heat transfer coefficient is much higher than that of tetrafluoroethylene-based materials ; 3. Enameled glass (with a thickness of around 2 mm). Enameling involves silicon, and there is a specific formula; it is created by grinding to form a glaze.
