I have a gentle question: is EPDM resistant to sulfur and hydrogen sulfide corrosion?
It can withstand sulfur and hydrogen sulfide. The sulfur tanks in our plant were originally made of carbon steel; it was not until 6 years later that they became corroded and were replaced with 304 material. Sulfur is theoretically non-corrosive and does not react with EPDM. We also have hydrogen sulfide in our factory; using EPDM in O-rings and dynamic seals has not caused any problems. But for static seals (gaskets), using rubber gaskets is not appropriate; rubber of any type will deteriorate when exposed to the outdoors, becoming harder or more brittle and thus cracking or deforming.
