If a pilot plant is to be built and it requires a small amount of Class A media such as methanol or hydrogen peroxide, then should this pilot plant be classified as belonging to Class A as well? Can’t pilot-scale plants be placed randomly within the factory premises anymore? What requirements should be met? What standards should be used to design this pilot-scale plant, and what standards should be applied for its acceptance? The equipment used are all of atmospheric pressure type, along with some pumps
Currently, there are no regulations or guidelines regarding the construction of pilot plants, and companies handle such matters on their own, which represents a deficiency in safety management. It is recommended to design it as a Class A facility and construct it to strict standards.
