The image below shows the tube bundle of the reforming product cooler in a petrochemical platinum reforming unit. Operating conditions: Tubing: medium, circulating water; temperature 35°C, pressure 0.5 MPa. Shell side: Medium, gasoline and hydrogen; temperature 90°C, pressure 1.3 MPa. During use, there is a significant amount of green/yellow sulfides on the shell side surface. Due to high-pressure water cleaning, there is significant corrosion on the outer surface.
The reformate cooler tube bundle in the petrochemical platinum reforming unit suffered severe corrosion during operation. The gasoline-hydrogen medium in the shell side may contain sulfides, which can accelerate metal corrosion under high temperatures and pressures, resulting in green or yellow sulfide deposits on the surface of the tube bundle. The presence of such deposits not only affects the proper operation of the equipment but may also damage its structural integrity. It is recommended to regularly inspect and maintain the cooler, and to consider using more corrosion-resistant materials to improve the equipment’s lifespan and reliability. .
