Since the insulation materials contain water-absorbing substances such as K2O and Na2O, these substances undergo chemical reactions with the moisture in the air, absorbing large amounts of water. This can easily lead to a siphoning effect that moistens the insulation material. The presence of soluble salts in the insulation materials further enhances the condensation of water within them. The adsorption and condensation of water make the insulation material humid, while the dissolution of soluble substances turns the water film into a strong electrolyte solution, leading to electrochemical corrosion of the metal. Due to inadequate anti-corrosion measures for metal surfaces in such operating environments, premature corrosion of the metal surfaces occurred. See the following image for details:

It’s better to choose moisture-proof insulation materials; those that accumulate condensation on their surface throughout the year, and if they are also absorbent, it is very likely to lead to extensive corrosion
