First, it is necessary to enhance the protection of the insulation layer against water and moisture, in order to prevent the creation of a high-temperature and high-humidity environment caused by moisture intrusion. This includes avoiding the use of insulation materials that absorb water easily and can lead to the accumulation of corrosive substances; instead, it is recommended to use insulation materials with low water content that dry quickly. Avoid using insulation materials with high water absorption; when such materials absorb water, their thermal conductivity increases, and they can also wet the surface of the equipment, leading to corrosion on that surface. The second method is applying anti-corrosion coatings, that is, coating the outer surface of the equipment (below the insulation layer) with coatings that possess excellent adhesion, mechanical properties, heat resistance, and anti-corrosion capabilities. The environment in which the equipment lies beneath the insulation layer determines the specific requirements for such anti-corrosion coatings; it is necessary to ensure that the coatings remain stable in high-temperature environments, while simultaneously providing anti-corrosion protection for the steel structure in low-temperature and high-humidity conditions.
