According to China Petroleum Network (Special Correspondent Shangguan Changhuai, Correspondents Wang Yaxi and Zeng Yang), on November 23, the Associated Materials Performance and Protection (AMPP) informed reporters that the Southwest Branch of the Construction Engineering Company (CPECC) was awarded the Outstanding Organization Award—the highest honor in the global materials and corrosion field. This is the first time that a domestic oil and gas enterprise has received this honor, which further enhances China’s voice in the international field of oil and gas corrosion, as well as the global influence of Chinese enterprises. For a long time, the Southwest Branch of CPECC has been committed to technological research and development across the entire sulfur-containing natural gas industry chain, systematically transforming the outcomes of such efforts and its engineering construction experience into standards and specifications. In the field of corrosion protection, the Southwest Branch has overcome major challenges, including the selection and evaluation of hydrogen sulfide-resistant materials, protection against AC/DC interference for buried pipelines, development of gas fields with “six high” characteristics, and development of high-sulfur gas fields. It has promoted the application of domestically produced corrosion-resistant materials such as duplex stainless steel and nickel-based alloy composite pipes. The branch has developed 14 leading core technologies, represented by corrosion protection techniques underpinned by integrity management, and has also served as the principal editor of the AMPP SP21508 standard. AMPP is the global authority in the field of corrosion control and protective coatings. The Outstanding Organization Award is a lifetime honor conferred by AMPP upon organizations or groups that have made long-term and significant contributions to the global corrosion prevention field (not limited to the oil and gas industry) and have helped drive overall progress in the industry.
