Causes of Corrosion in Heat Exchangers in Oil and Gas Field Stations and Countermeasures Abstract: A case study analysis was conducted to address the frequent corrosion-related failures of heat exchange equipment in oil and gas field stations. The results showed that corrosion perforation is the main type of failure in heat exchange equipment, occurring frequently at the tube bundle itself as well as at the welds where the tube bundle is connected to the tube sheet; the operating media are mostly water-containing hydrocarbons and circulating water. The failure of heat exchangers is related not only to the materials used in them and the media with which they come into contact, but also to their structural design, welding techniques, as well as the location of installation on-site and the production management systems in place. To address this, targeted preventive and control measures are proposed from four aspects: material selection and design, structural optimization, coating protection, as well as installation, construction, and management optimization, in order to ensure the safe and stable operation of oil and gas production systems. Heat exchangers in oil and gas field stations often fail due to corrosion. Corrosion mainly occurs at the welds of the tube bundle and tube sheet, with moisture in the medium being the primary cause. To prevent corrosion, measures can be taken in aspects such as material selection, structural optimization, surface coating, and improved installation and management. Through these measures, the stability and safety of the equipment can be improved. .
