I have been learning recently how to use Radfrac to simulate chemical absorption processes, and I have a question: when using the equilibrium approach, we can define plate efficiency to represent the imperfections in gas-liquid equilibrium; whereas when using the rate-based approach, we can define the tower internals and establish relationships for mass and heat transfer rates in order to simulate such imperfections. So, when using ratebased, is it still meaningful to define panel efficiency? Or is my understanding of the relationship between the rate order and mass transfer resistance incorrect? I hope the experts can point out any mistakes; thank you.
